EIBAR, Spain (AP) -- American defender Oguchi Onyewu scored three minutes into second-half injury time, giving Malaga a 1-1 tie at third-tier Eibar on Tuesday night in the first leg of their Copa del Rey fifth-round matchup.
Onyewu jumped above two Eibar players to head a free kick over goalkeeper Jon Altamira, who had rushed off this line.
Eibar, which eliminated Athletic Bilbao in the fourth round, had gone ahead on defender Txemi Anibarro's goal in the 74th minute. The second leg will be played at Malaga on Jan. 8, and the winner plays defending champion Barcelona or Cordoba in the quarterfinals.
Onyewu's other goal this season was in a fourth-round match against Cacereno on Oct. 31.
American forward Jozy Altidore gave AZ Alkmaar a two-goal lead when he scored in the 25th minute as the club advanced to the Dutch Cup quarterfinals with a 4-2 win at Dordrecht.
Altidore has three goals in his last two games and 15 overall this season.
BERLIN (AP) -- Bayern Munich overcame a red card on Franck Ribery to reach the quarterfinals of the German Cup with a 2-0 win at Augsburg.
Ribery set up Mario Gomez for Bayern's opening goal in the 26th minute of the third-round match.
Ribery was ejected in the 47th minute half after an altercation with Koo Ja-Cheol. The Frenchman struck Koo lightly in the face in retaliation for a slap unseen by the referee. Xherdan Shaqiri scored off a cross from Thomas Mueller in the 85th.
After firing coach Huub Stevens on Sunday and replacing him on an interim basis with Jens Keller, Schalke lost 2-1 at home to Mainz, which got goals from Marco Caligiuri in the 30th and Nicolai Mueller in the 83rd. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar had tied the score in the 75th.
American midfielder Jermaine Jones, serving a four-match suspension in the Bundesliga, was given a yellow card in the 66th for a two-footed lunge on Caligiuri. Mainz coach Thomas Tuchel was sent to the stands for stepping onto the field in response.
"From my perspective it looked like Caligiuri was seriously injured," Tuchel said. "It was just a bit of pushing, here and there, nothing serious."
Third-division Kickers Offenbach upset by Fortuna Duesseldorf 2-0 on goals by Mathias Fetsch in the 76th and Stefan Vogler in the 85th.
Freiburg won 1-0 at third-division Karlsruher on Jonathan Schmid's goal in the second minute.
MILAN (AP) -- Inter Milan beat second division Verona 2-0 to advance to the Italian Cup quarterfinals on Tuesday.
Antonio Cassano put Inter ahead in the 50th after taking a pass from Fredy Guarin. Four minutes later, Guarin scored with a free kick that deflected in off Verona's wall.
Inter played the final 10 minutes a man short after goalkeeper Luca Castellazzi was carried off on a stretcher with an injury. Inter had used all three of its substitutions, so forward Rodrigo Palacio ended the match in goal and saved a header.
Inter will next face either Napoli or Bologna, who meet Wednesday.
Fans clashed outside the stadium before the match and had to be separated by police.
