ALCOHOL- AND DRUG-RELATED

Hudson man arrested: A 54-year-old Hudson man was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence Jan. 25 at 2:18 a.m. on Route 14. Police stopped the vehicle because they said the man was driving 56 mph in a 35 mph zone. Police said the man had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on him. He failed a sobriety test, police said, and refused to take a blood-alcohol test.

Atwater man arrested: A 26-year-old Atwater man was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence Jan. 29 at 1:35 a.m. on Evergreen Drive. Police pulled over the vehicle because they said the man was driving outside the marked lines. The man had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, according to police, who said the man failed a field sobriety test and had a blood-alcohol count of .173. He was also charged with driving under suspension and not driving within marked lanes.

Drug paraphernalia found: A 19-year-old Kent man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension Jan. 29 at 1:39 a.m. on Route 43. Police said they pulled over the vehicle because it appeared to have a burnt out license plate light. Police said the man was driving under suspension. There was a strong odor of marijuana from the vehicle, according to police, and a metal pipe and drug residue were found.

Drug pipe located: A 44-year-old Akron man was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia Jan. 30 at 6:42 a.m. on Ferguson Road. Police said the vehicle was pulled over because the driver made an illegal lane change. Police said the man had glossy eyes, failed a sobriety test and had a drug pipe in his vehicle.

THEFT

Shoes taken from vehicle: A Streetsboro man reported Jan. 29 at 7:56 a.m. that a $34 pair of athletic shoes were stolen from an unlocked car on Dunlap Drive.

Checkbook, cash stolen: A Page Road man reported Jan. 29 at 8:17 p.m. that someone entered his unlocked van and stole his checkbook and $2 in cash.

ARREST WARRANT

Warrant through Streetsboro police: While Streetsboro police were conducting an interview at a Pike Parkway home Jan. 26 at 6:52 p.m. about a theft in the city, they learned the man that was being interviewed had an undisclosed arrest warrant through Streetsboro police. The 35-year-old Streetsboro man was taken to the Portage County Jail.
