Windham man charged: A 35-year-old Windham man was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence March 2 at 4:21 a.m. on Route 14. During a traffic stop, police said the man was operating a vehicle under the influence because he had a smell of an alcoholic beverage on him. Police said they found about 1 pound of marijuana in the vehicle.

Charged with OVI, speeding: A 36-year-old Ravenna man was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence March 3 at 8:07 p.m. on Route 14 at Diagonal Road. Police said they stopped the man because he was traveling 57 mph in a 40-mph zone. During the traffic stop, police said the man had a smell of an alcoholic beverage on him. Police said the man failed field sobriety tests and registered a .178 on a breathalyzer test, above the legal limit of .08. The man was also charged with speeding.

Five beers after work lead to OVI: A 27-year-old Kent man was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence March 4 at 11:13 p.m. on Route 43. Police said they stopped the vehicle because it was traveling 50 mph in a 35-mph zone. Police said the man had a suspended driver's license and a strong odor of an alcohol beverage on him. The man told police he drank five beers right after work, according to police. The man refused to take field sobriety tests or a breathalyzer test, according to police. He was also charged with speeding and driving under suspension.

Mantua man charged: A 21-year-old Mantua man was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence March 7 at 3:48 a.m. on Route 303. Police stopped the vehicle after a random check of its license plate determined its registration sticker was expired. Police said the man had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on him. The man failed field sobriety tests, according to police and registered a .121 on a breathalyzer test, above the legal limit of .08. Police said two open bottles of beer with beer still inside were found in the vehicle. The man was also charged with not properly displaying license plates and having an open container.

Charged with OVI: A 32-year-old Lyndhurst woman was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence March 7 at 12:13 a.m. on Interstate 480. Police said they stopped the vehicle because the driver was traveling well below the posted speed limit, then committed a lane violation. After stopping the vehicle, police said the woman had a smell of an alcoholic beverage on her and failed field sobriety tests. Police said the woman refused a breathalyzer test. She was also charged with a marked lane violation and driving at a slow speed.

THEFT

Gas cans stolen: A Fronek Drive man told police three 5-gallon gas cans filled with gasoline were stolen from behind his home March 7 at 10:38 a.m. He told police the gas cans were there several days earlier. The estimated value was $100. Police are investigating.
