Possession of drug paraphernalia: A 35-year-old Kent man who was a passenger in a vehicle was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia Feb. 20 at 8:47 a.m. on Frost Road. Police said they found a metal grinder with marijuana residue on it inside the vehicle. Police said the vehicle was stopped because of a registration violation and said there was an odor of marijuana inside the vehicle. The driver, a 35-year-old Kent woman, was charged with expired license plates.

Charged with DUI: A 39-year-old Mantua man was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage Feb. 20 at 1:24 a.m. on Frost Road. Police said they stopped the vehicle because it was swerving on the road and speeding. Police said they smelled an alcoholic beverage on the man, who failed field sobriety tests. The man refused to take a blood-alcohol test, according to police. The police report did not indicate how fast the vehicle was traveling.

Shoplifter in custody: A 19-year-old Streetsboro man was charged with theft after police said he tried to steal two $50 gift cards along with six soft drinks taken from a cooler that were worth a total of $10 Feb. 18 at 3:47 p.m. at a Route 14 store. A loss prevention employee spotted the man and kept him in custody until police arrived.

Cutting security tab: A 13-year-old Streetsboro boy was charged with theft after police said he cut a tab used for security on a $200 set of headphones Feb. 17 at 12:38 p.m. at a Route 303 store. Store security observed the incidents and summoned police. An officer said the boy was also seen taking a small speaker off a shelf and cutting it out of its package, then dropping the speaker on the floor when he spotted a police officer. The boy had less than $1 on him after police detained him, according to police.

Charged with theft: A 46-year-old Windham man was charged with theft Feb. 20 at 12:01 p.m. after police said he tried to steal $185 worth of miscellaneous merchandise from a Route 14 business. Store security detained the man until police arrived after they alleged he left the store without paying for four saw blades, four electrical outlets and four brass valves.

Arrest warrants

Headed to jail: A 64-year-old Cleveland man with two arrest warrants for theft and trespassing was taken into custody by Streetsboro police Feb. 20 at 10:07 a.m. The man, who was previously in the custody of Mayfield Heights police, had the arrest warrants issued by Streetsboro police. The man was taken to the Portage County Jail.
