Enjoy 'Computers and Cocktails' with Chamber of Commerce

New in 2013, the Streetsboro Area Chamber of Commerce is launching a series of educational events. The first of the series will feature trends in information technology in 2013 and will take place Jan. 24 from 5-7 p.m. at the Hampton Inn & Suites, 800 Mondial Pkwy., Streetsboro.

Representatives from Simplex IT will present up-to-the-minute information on a variety of Microsoft products, including The Cloud, Office 2013, backup and disaster recovery and more. The presentation is designed to help small- and medium-sized businesses with their software challenges.

Refreshments will be served and networking is encouraged.

This kickoff event to the Chamber's educational series is free to 2013 members of the Streetsboro Area Chamber of Commerce. For non-members, the cost is $5 per person.

State of City address set for Feb. 13

Mayor Glenn Broska will present his State of the City address to the Streetsboro Area Chamber of Commerce for its February lunch, which will take place Feb. 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rusty Nail Restaurant, 7291 Route 43 in Kent.

Employment Expo planned

Looking for a new job close to home?

The Streetsboro Area Chamber of Commerce may have a solution: The first annual Employment Expo, set for March 20 at Streetsboro High School from 5-7 p.m.

The event is free to all job-seekers.

It will feature 30 to 40 employers seeking local workers in non-profit agencies, industrial businesses, office jobs and more.

Participation is free to members of the Streetsboro Area Chamber of Commerce as new member benefit in 2013. For non-members, the cost is $250, or they may join the Chamber and receive a $250 discount on their annual membership dues.
