As New Year's resolutions begin to fade, Snap Fitness 24/7 has a challenge to keep things interesting: Participants can lose weight, win prizes and help claim the "Challenge Cup Trophy" for their Snap Fitness location.

"This is the time of year when we need a little boost to keep the exercise motivation going," said Streetsboro Snap Fitness owner Pat McCoy.

Starting March 4, all 1,400 Snap Fitness locations nationwide will begin a six-week Lose Weight Challenge. It's free for members with special joining incentives, nutritional guidance and training advice to help people achieve their goals.

Participants could win the grand prize of $5,000 in cash, $1,000 in Truestar Health supplements purchases or a trip.

The three locations in Portage County will be awarding the top individuals of each club with their own bevy of prizes including free monthly memberships, special discounts and merchandise donated by local establishments.

"This year, the clubs in Portage County are competing against each other to see who can bring home the Snap Fitness Challenge Cup," said Christy Karns of Kent's Snap Fitness. "It's Aurora versus Kent versus Streetsboro with a traveling trophy cup that will be displayed at the winning club until the next challenge."

"But the real winners are all the people who lose those extra pounds and keep on a path of healthy living," added McCoy.

Snap Fitness provides access 24 hours a day, seven days a week to members via electronic key card entry, along with the industry's best cardiovascular and weight training equipment.

The Kent and Streetsboro locations also offer group classes.

"Group fitness is a surging trend in the industry as people seek the added social aspect of working out with friends and the motivation it provides when someone else is holding you accountable," said McCoy.

Every member who joins the club also receives a Fitness Score Session with a personal trainer, along with a "Basic 8" workout plan to start traveling along the path toward better results. Members also receive access to their own personal web page at mysnapfitness.com, which provides additional health and wellness tools including online workout tutorials and meal plans, as well as fun, free challenges to help keep them engaged. More information is available by calling the Aurora 330-995-0995, Streetsboro 330-626-3882 or Kent 330-330-474-2910 locations or by visiting www.snapfitness.com.
