Chamber seeks funds for scholarships
The Streetsboro Area Chamber of Commerce has set a goal of raising $2,500 for its scholarship fund by April 30.
Letters have been sent out to area businesses and organizations, seeking support for the fund, which is used exclusively to help Streetsboro High School students with college expenses.
Last year, two $500 scholarships were awarded, and the Chamber hopes to be able to award scholarships at the May 15 Scholarship Awards Ceremony. Funds were raised last year through donations from area businesses and individuals.
The fund was established in 2007 as a way of supporting and honoring Streetsboro graduates.
For more information or to make a donation, contact Streetsboro Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Heidi Inzerillo at firstname.lastname@example.org or Chamber Board members Debra Bish at email@example.com or Linda Bell at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Looking for a new job close to home?
The Streetsboro Area Chamber of Commerce may have a solution: The first annual Employment Expo, set for March 20 at Streetsboro High School from 5-7 p.m.
The event is free to all job-seekers. It will feature 30 to 40 employers seeking local workers in non-profit agencies, industrial businesses, office jobs and more. The Chamber is anticipating several hundred job seekers will take advantage of the event.
The event's main sponsor is Step2 Co.; L'Oreal is the "Fortune 500" sponsor, and the Portage Development Board and ComDoc are also helping to sponsor the event. Two $500 "Executive" sponsorships are still available. Those sponsorships will include mention of the companies in a wide variety of promotional and marketing efforts.
