The Streetsboro Area Chamber of Commerce will welcome former White House Chef Sam Morgante to the Kent State Hotel and Conference Center Sept. 27 from 6-9 p.m.
Dinner guests are invited to sit back and enjoy the evening as Morgante prepares a Presidential Dinner and shares tales of serving at the White House.
Tickets for the evening include cocktail hour, dinner and wine.

Harpeth Rising to perform at Honky Tonk Sept. 6
Harpeth Rising, a group including banjo, violin, cello, foot percussion and three-part vocal harmonies, will perform Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. at Honky Tonk House Concerts, located at 1025 Montclair Drive in Streetsboro.
The all-female group performs a mix of folk, rock, bluegrass and roots music. The members met while studying classical music at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and were united -- and continue to be driven by -- their eclectic musical interests. The group released its fourth album, "Tales From Jackson Bridge," in October 2013, which reached No. 6 on the Folk DJ charts that month and No. 15 on the EuroAmericana Charts in March 2014.

KSU Fashion Library to host after hours event
The Kent State University Fashion Library will host a Business After Hours event from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 4.
The event will feature hors d'oeuvres, wine, beer and tours of the tech style lab and the museum.
The Fashion Library is located at 131 Rockwell Hall, near the corner of Lincoln Street and Main Street.

Study Kay Arthur's 'Covenant (God's Enduring Promises)'
Hope Community Church will host an eight-week study on Kay Arthur's "Covenant (God's Enduring Promises)" beginning Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. The class features a teaching each week by Arthur via DVD and a class discussion afterward. The Pierce-Streetsboro Library began registrations for fall storytime Aug. 18.
"Little Listeners" for ages 2 to 5 meet on Tuesdays at 11:15 a.m. or Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. beginning the week of Sept. 8 and ending the week of Oct. 6. Storytimes include stories, music, crafts, puppets, finger plays and flannel board stories. This is an excellent way to acquaint children with the library, foster a love for reading, and help them become "ready to read."

The library, located at 8990 Kirby Lane, is open Monday and Tuesday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday and Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library is closed on Thursdays and Sundays. PTA Tailgate Party set for Aug. 29
The PTA's Annual Tailgate Party takes place Aug. 29 in the high school parking lot before the Streetsboro Rockets' home opener. The event runs from 5-7 p.m.
The Tailgate Party will feature a Chinese auction, bounce house, balloon bending, tattoos, corn hole and Streetsboro police, service and fire departments, along with some of their vehicles. A variety of school organizations also will have tables at the party.
The Rockets take on Champion High School that evening.
