A traditional Ash Wednesday worship service will take place Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. at Rejoice Lutheran Church. The service will include confession, imposition of ashes and Holy Communion. The ashes are made by burning the palms from last year's Palm Sunday Service.
There will be a couple Taize' songs at this service to help introduce the midweek service style that will begin on Feb. 20.
On Wednesdays, Feb. 20 through March 20 at 7 p.m., Rejoice will host a Taize' worship service each week.
Taizé worship focuses on prayer, meditation, repetitive song and periods of silence during a worship service. Rejoice Lutheran Church also will include Holy Communion. Each service will last about 30 minutes.
The mid-week services will be a chance to stop, get off the worldly treadmill and re-energize to climb back on. At first, it may be difficult for attendees to relax, but open minds may find refreshment and insight.
Rejoice Lutheran Church is located at 7855 Stow Road in Hudson. For more information please visit www.rejoicelc.org.
