The Garden Club of Kent will host the 66th annual President's Banquet at NEOMED Conference and Event Center in Rootstown on Jan. 28 at 6:30 p.m.
The program will include remembrances of members for 2012, and awards: Gardener of the Year, Lifetime Achievement, Service, Horticulture, Friends of The Garden Club of Kent, and the Paul and Leah Houser Community Beautification Award.
Created in 1999, the Houser Award honors the memory of Paul and Leah Houser of Kent and promotes community beautification. The award goes to an individual, business, or organization that makes exceptional contributions toward the beautification of Portage County communities -- with emphasis on Kent. This year, the award will go to the Ron Burbick Foundation for their considerable renovation and new construction in downtown Kent.
The cost is $20 per person for the banquet, with a cash bar. The public is welcome. Call Harold at 330-673-1686 to make a reservation.
