Read to a therapy dog March 16 at library

The Pierce-Streetsboro Library will present its "Read to a Dog" program March 16 from 11 a.m. to noon. The program, which was previously scheduled for March 9, was postponed.

Parker, a licensed therapy Golden Retriever, will be available to hear children practice their reading. Children may choose library books to read to Parker, or they may bring their own books.

According to Therapy Dogs International, some children who have difficulty reading, or who might be self-conscious about reading in front of classmates or teachers, can be helped by reading to a non-judgemental, patient therapy dog. It is fun for the children and can serve as an incentive to keep reading.

For more information, call the library at 330-626-4458.
