Quick Start tennis scheduled
Quick Start tennis is a new format for learning tennis, designed to bring kids into the game by utilizing specialized equipment, shorter court dimensions and smaller nets, all tailored to age and size. Children will be introduced to tennis in a fun, safe way. This 3-day camp will provide racquets for each child to use.
Dates are April 15 to 17 from 6 to 6:45 p.m. at the City Park tennis courts. It is intended for ages 5-10. The instructor will be a recreation staff member.
Cost is $5 for residents and $8 for non-Streetsboro taxpayers. Deadline for registration is April 5.
Youth running club planned
The Streetsboro youth running club is scheduled to take place from May 6 through June 15 at City Park.
It will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
It is intended for boys and girls in grades 1-6. The running club will include a variety of running games, exercises, relays and obstacle courses.
Emphasis will be on having fun while learning the proper stretching, breathing and hydration techniques. Each participant will receive a running club uniform shirt.
The fee is $20 for residents and $25 for non-Streetsboro taxpayers. Deadline for sign-up is April 26.
Enjoy gymnastics
with 'Little Leapers'
Budding gymnasts have a chance to learn the basics in "Little Leapers Gymnastics."
There are eight four-week sessions starting continuing through April 4 at City Hall.
Each class meets weekly for four weeks.
There are three different levels for children of different ages in the program:
Dynamic Duo, Parent & Child, for children 18 months through age 3. Participants will learn fundamentals. Each class will include a warm up, skill development period and closing activity. Themes will change throughout the year and include creative skill building activities. Classes meet from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m.
Pond Hoppers, for children age 3.5 to 5. Participants will be introduced to beginning skills on the floor, vault, bars and beam. The course's goal is to develop each child's physical potential and increase self esteem by providing a successful experience in a non-competitive setting.
Rising Stars, for children age 5.5 to 8. Children will be introduced to progressions, terminology and beginning skills on floor, vault, bars and beam.
Registration deadlines are the Friday prior to the beginning of each new session.
