Stuff a furry friend
Each child will get to stuff and decorate their own "furry friend" to keep. The party is Oct. 18 at 11 a.m. at Pierce-Streetsboro Library. It is intended for ages 2-9. The minimum is six participants per party, and the maximum is 24.
After the child builds a furry animal friend, they will sit down and listen to a story read by a library story teller. A snack will be provided.
Cost is $12 for residents and $15 for non-Streetsboro taxpayers.

Parents can bring their little costumed ghouls and goblins for a night of Halloween fun. The event is Oct. 30 from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. at City Hall. It is intended for ages 2-4. There is a minimum of six participants.
Crafts will be made, and games will be played. A spooky story will be read to the children, and Halloween treats will be shared.
The cost is $12 for residents, and $17 for non-Streetsboro taxpayers.

Children may like trophies, and may have watched their older siblings receive a trophy. This is a program all about trophies. The program is scheduled to take place Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
This program is intended for ages 3-10.
Participants will create a craft trophy.
Then, they can use their new skills to build a real trophy to take home.
Children will learn the different pieces that go into a trophy.
The cost is $5 for all participants.

Children will get a chance to decorate their own pumpkin. The event is Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. at City Hall. The event intended for ages 2-10.
Pumpkins and supplies will all be provided. Bring the entire family and decorate pumpkins for Halloween.
When they are done, participants can take their colorful pumpkin home to display. There is a limit of one pumpkin per person. Cost is $1 for participants.

Children will get a chance to learn how to be a knight. The event is Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to noon at City Hall. It is intended for ages 5-12. The king needs squires to learn the skills and become knight of his realm. The squires are assigned to the knights to go through training. The knights will teach the code of chivalry -- the knights' code -- and medieval swordsmanship using padded swords. At the end, the squires are dubbed knights of the realm and go forth and live by the knights' code.
The knights' code includes: Be brave in battle; keep your promises; treat people in a courteous manner; be generous and kind; never lie or cheat; always respects parents and teachers; and never use what you learn to hurt others.

Leaf it to me
What do children know about leaves? Why are the leaves changing colors? The parks & recreation department is "leafing" it up to children to find out. The program is on Mondays from Oct. 7 to 21 at 5:45 p.m. at the City Park pavilion.
Each day, the participants will hike to find the brightest, most colorful leaves to use for their craft project. They will explore the city's parks and make leaf art each day. Cost is $5 for all participants.

Kite flying day
Kids will learn all about kites and how they fly from kite expert Nile Carver. The program is Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. at City Park. It is intended for all ages.
Carver has been constructing kites for more than 20 years. Participants will make their own kite to keep. Carver will bring one of his award-winning kites to show. If the weather permits, the kite, which he'll launch filled with candy, will drop the goodies for children to run and grab. Cost is $5 for participants.
