Ariel to host 'Little Mermaid' party

Young fans of the movie "The Little Mermaid," age 2-8, are invited to meet Ariel for a party July 10 from 6-7 p.m. at City Hall.

Ariel will lead the party, which will include mermaid games, etiquette, stories, glittery makeup, a craft and more. Parents should bring their cameras for a picture of their children with Ariel.

Register by June 27. The cost for residents is $12 or $15 for non-residents.

Parents get discount for early Kick Start sign up

Parents of 3- to 5-year-olds eager to learn the basics of basketball can save $10 on registration for Streetsboro's Kick Start Basketball program if they sign up by June 20.

There are also early sign up discounts for Kick Start Soccer and Kick Start Dance, which are also designed for young children.

Kick Start Sports are geared for young children who want to play sports but are not old enough to join the regular league.

Parents are required to work with their child and be on the field or court at all times. Each participant will receive a T-shirt, uniform and ball or other item to keep.

In the basketball program, players will learn dribbling, passing, shooting and the fundamentals of basketball.

The July 7-Aug. 4 program will meet Mondays from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.

The cost is $35 for residents and $40 for non-residents.

In the soccer program, which is for 3-year-olds, players will be introduced to kicking, dribbling, passing, shooting and other fun games.

The Sept. 8-Oct. 6 program will meet on Mondays from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m.

Cost is $35 for residents and $40 for non-residents.

In the dance program, which is for 3- 5-year-old children, participants will get a fun introduction to ballet, tap, jazz, and hip hop. Children will work on coordination, musicality and listening skills. Dancers will perform during the last class. The instructor is Donala Anderson of Keithe Williams Arts Academy.

The July 10 to Aug. 7 dance classes will meet Thursdays from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.

The cost is $35 for residents and $40 for non-residents.

The cost for non-residents is $25. Register by June 26.
