Book group to discuss Jeannette Walls novel

The Pierce-Streetsboro Library's book discussion club will meet April 15 at 3 p.m. in the library's meeting room. The group will discuss "Half Broke Horses: A True-Life Novel" by Jeannette Walls. The book is about the author's grandmother, a frontier teacher, rancher, poker player and bootlegger in the early 1900s.

Light refreshments will be served, courtesy of the Friends of Pierce-Streetsboro Library. Stop into the library to receive a copy of the book. For more details or to register for the program, call the Streetsboro library at 330-626-4458.

Maplewood offers GED, literacy programs

Classes are held on Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. until noon at the Maplewood Career Center. This program is designed for those who need to get their GED, need a refresher course before going back to school, and would like to help their children with their homework. SearchOhio, OhioLINK

Can't find a book looking for in the Portage County District Library's catalog? Try either SearchOhio or OhioLINK. These free services are available to any person with a valid Portage County library card. Unlike traditional library loans, patrons can place requests online, and the requests are sent automatically to the libraries with the requested items. Patrons are notified when items have arrived either by phone or email. SearchOhio is a lending consortium which consists of several public library systems throughout Ohio. Request materials in the same manner as that of the Portage County catalog

Just look for the "SearchOhio" icon at the top of the screen and order DVDs, books and more.
