Shamhart to talk about book exploring autism

Cleveland author Nick Shamhart will appear at the Pierce-Streetsboro branch of Portage County District Library Feb. 25 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. His newest novel, "The Fog Within," is told from an autistic girl's perspective as she passes through the milestones of life. The father of a daughter with autism, Shamhart's books will be available for purchase and signing at the event. All proceeds go to "Autism Speaks."

Book discussion group to discuss Goolrick book

The Pierce-Streetsboro Library's book discussion club will meet March 10 at 3 p.m. in the library's meeting room. The group will discuss "Heading Out to Wonderful" by Robert Goolrick, a novel that takes place in 1940s Virginia about a stranger who comes to town and meets a woman who is already taken. Light refreshments will be served, courtesy of the Friends of Pierce-Streetsboro Library. Stop into the library to receive a copy of the book. Participate in the 'Big Library Read'

The Portage County District Library announces that it will participate in the "Big Library Read," an OverDrive program. To participate, download "Keys to the Kitchen" by Food Network star Aida Mollenkamp before March 5.

Shape Magazine calls it "a must-have guide for any home cook," and participants can get it for free.

During this reading period, Mollenkamp's comprehensive reference guide to becoming a more accomplished, adventurous cook will be available for every patron who wishes to read it with no holds or waiting lists.
