Library announces summer programs

Published: May 21, 2014 12:00 AM

"Fizz, Boom, Read!" is the theme for programs at the Pierce-Streetsboro Library this summer. Registration for Summer Reading Club and storytime begins May 28 and may be done by coming into the library or calling 330-626-4458.

Summer Reading Club is for children who have finished kindergarten through fourth-grade. Programs will be on Tuesdays from 1:30-2:30 p.m. or Wednesdays from 1:30-2:30 p.m. beginning the week of June 9 and ending the week of July 7. Each week will include stories, games, crafts and perhaps reader's theaters or puppet shows. Children should read every day between weekly meetings.

The KSU Trumbull Summer Stock Theater will present a play at the July 8 meeting, and Dawn Alber from Meadowsweet Farm will be at the July 9 meeting. Also, Outback Ray will bring his animals July 14 during the end party, beginning at 1 p.m. in City Park behind the library for participants of both Summer Reading Club and Storytime.

The Youth Program is for students who have completed grades fifth- through 12th grades. With every book checked out, each student may enter a drawing for a chance to win a gift certificate from Target. This program will begin June 9 and end on July 9. Two winners names will be drawn.

Storytime for children age 2 to 5 will meet on Tuesdays at 11:15 a.m. or Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. starting the week of June 9 and ending the week of July 7. Storytimes include stories, music, crafts, puppets, finger plays and flannel board stories. This is an excellent way to acquaint children with the library, foster a love for reading and help them become "ready to read".
