The Pierce-Streetsboro Library will present its "Read to A Dog" program June 14 at 11 a.m. Parker, a licensed therapy Golden Retriever, will be available to hear children practice their reading.
Children may choose library books to read to Parker, or they may bring their own books. According to Therapy Dogs International, some children who have a little trouble learning how to read or might be self-conscious about reading in front of classmates or teachers, can be helped by reading to a non-judgmental, patient therapy dog. It's fun for the children and can serve as an incentive to keep reading.
Registration for this program is not required. Call the library at 330-626-4458 for further information.
