Local brews, food highlighted at art museum's Art and Ale event

Art and Ale returns to the Akron Art Museum's Beatrice Knapp McDowell Grand Lobby March 8 from 6 to 9 p.m., offering guests the opportunity to enjoy beers from Ohio brewmakers and food from regional food purveyors.

"Pinging the Keg" to celebrate the opening of Art of Ale will occur at 6 p.m. Throughout the evening, experts and home beer making demonstrations will be available to discuss brewing troubles and successes.

At the event, enter to win several great brewmaking prizes. The grand prize is a day of brewing at Thirsty Dog Brewery. Other prizes include a home brewing kit from Abruzzi, items from participant breweries and a bucket of suds.

New this year, the galleries will be open for the first hour of the event.

Tickets are $40 for members, $50 for nonmembers. All tickets purchased at the door are $50. Nonmembers who attend will automatically receive a one-year "green" museum membership.
