Return of '2,000 Faces' exhibit at Jack Richard Studios reflects artists' prolific career

The title of the latest exhibit at Jack Richard Studios is 2,000 Faces, but Cuyahoga Falls artist Jack Richard said that there are actually more prints on display. Much more.

"Actually, it's more like 2,600," Richard said. "We are still setting it up."

If the concept sounds familiar, that's because, Richard said, he did this nine years ago, and it was very popular.

"We had 5,000 visitors from 86 cities, 19 states and six countries," Richard said. He added that this information came from those who had signed the studio's guest book. "Six hundred people played the games, and we gave out 4,000 prints as prizes."

This time around, all of the faces on display are from drawings, sketches and paintings Richard has done during his lengthy career -- with one exception.

"There is one photograph in the entire display," Richard said.

Once again, visitors coming to see this exhibit can play a game connected to 2,000 Faces, although the details haven't been ironed out for the second go-around yet, Richard said. But common themes could include finding the animals in the exhibit, finding the presidents, and finding the portraits of such actors like Bob Hope.

"There are a dozen pictures of Bob Hope alone," Richard said, "although some might be hard to recognize because of the makeup he was wearing."

Sumi art painter's work on exhibit

Sylvia Yin Tsui, a Sumi art painter who had a studio in Tallmadge and who has taught at the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center and at Jack Richard Studios, has examples of her work on display through the end of February. She currently lives in Arlington, Texas. Richard said she has won several awards for her work, including the National Arts Competition of Taiwan in 1964.
