Stan Hywet Hall will be the focal point for the inaugural Concours D'Elegance from Sept. 19 through 21.
Some details were revealed at a Feb. 25 press conference about the new event, which will highlight classic cars on the grounds of the historic property. The event also will include a tea, a fashion show and other events.
"This is a unique event that extends beyond the walls of Stan Hywet," said Linda Conrad, president and executive director of Stan Hywet.
David Schultz, director for the Concours, said that while the cars will be a focal point, there will be many features to appeal to guests.
"We are really going to celebrate the Concours," he said. "It's not just about the cars, it's about the food, it's about the arts, it's about the location, it's about the fashion."
Planned activities include a trip to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, an appearance by Wayne Carini of "Chasing Classic Cars," a silent and live auction, cocktail party, a fashion show and, of course, automobiles and motorcycles, according to information provided about the Concours.
Schultz said that around 160 cars and motorcycles will be on exhibit in the main fields, along with about 45 specialty cars in a separate area. Highlights will include the American luxury automobile Pierce-Arrow; 1938-42 Packard Darrin automobiles; Maserati, which celebrates its 100th birthday in 2014; American motorcycles built in 1928 and earlier; one and two cylinder automobiles; Cord L29 and 810/812 and American Woodies.
