Stow Symphony plays sparkling 'Scheherezade'

Dvorak's Slavonic Dances, Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Major and 'Scheherezade' made up the Stow Symphony orchestra's winter concert on March 22 at the Tallmadge Alliance Church. Music director Darrell Lee Music conducted the Bach suite and Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherezade," while Alexander Popovici lead the orchestra through the Slavonic Dances. Frances Hamilton, violinist and concert master, was featured violin solo for "Scheherezade."

The Stow Symphony Orchestra will next perform Mozart's Requiem and The Symphony No. 4 in F minor by Tchaikovsky May 31 at the Stow-Munroe Falls High School, 3227 E. Graham Road in Stow. The Requiem also will feature the Stow Symphony Chorus. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students and seniors. Children 12 and under are admitted free. Music said that the Stow Symphony is still recruiting singers for Requiem. The Stow Symphony Chorus rehearses from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays at the Tallmadge Alliance Church, 1155 East Ave. in Tallmadge.
