Concerned Citizens Ohio/Shalersville will test well water for free, starting at 3:15 p.m. Jan. 6 at the King of Glory Church in the Streetsboro Plaza, located just off Route 303 in Streetsboro.
The water test is not EPA- certified. Its purpose is to give residents baseline test results so a spike due to contamination from drilling for natural gas can be detected before health impacts occur.
Homeowners with wells from Shalersville, Mantua, Hiram, Nelson, Windham, Kent and any other townships are invited to bring their water.
Water should be drawn before treatment by a water softener or heater close to well. Bring two cups of water in a clean glass container with a clean lid. Allow water to run for three minutes.
Because of the large number of people seeking testing, an additional team of testers will be on hand.
Concerned Citizens Ohio is a citizen-based group whose purpose is to act as citizens helping citizens. This free testing takes place on the first Sunday of every month at the same location. For further information, call 330-472-8086.
