Free income tax assistance will be available for Portage County residents through the AARP Tax-Aide Counseling for the Elderly program from February through April 13.
Help will be available at four sites in the county: Reed Memorial Library, 167 E. Main St., Ravenna; Streetsboro Senior Center, 9184 Route 43, Streetsboro; Mantua Village Lodge, 4808 E. High St., Mantua; and United Methodist Church of Kent, 1435 E. Main St., Kent.
Participants do not need to be a member of AARP.
This service will be available by appointment beginning the first week of February through April 13. Site hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday appointments are available. Appointments can be made weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 22 by calling United Way's 211 Portage (simply dial 2-1-1 or local exchange 330-297-4636).
