Teen again to take the Polar Bear Plunge

Published:

Streetsboro High School student Chrissy Motz and retired Streetsboro Police Sgt. John Bodnar have turned the Polar Bear Plunge into something a tradition.

For the past several years, they've participated in the event.

The duo is participating for the second year in a row as "Super Plungers" in the Polar Bear Plunge Feb. 9 in Geneva. In the Super Plunge, participants hop into the water once every hour for eight hours. Chrissy, a Special Olympics athlete, has set a goal of raising $1,000 for the cause.

Chrissy is still recruiting team members (each of whom are asked to try to raise $100) and seeking donations.

To donate online, search for "2013 Super Plunge home" on the internet.

From there, click on "Christine Motz" on the right side and then click "give now."

Bodnar is raising funds on the same website.

Those interested in donating or joining Chrissy's team may contact Chrissy's mother, Fran Motz, at 330-653-6939 or famotz@neo.rr.com.
