Streetsboro High School bands keeping busy during winter

Streetsboro — Although football season ended months ago, Streetsboro High School band members have managed to keep quite busy this winter.

The Streetsboro High School Symphonic and Jazz bands presented a concert March 5 at Streetsboro High School before several hundred audience members. The concert featured a variety of music from Mozart to John Williams to jazz.

In addition to preparing for the March 5 concert, band members also have taken part in the Pep Band, which played at most home varsity basketball games, according to Gretchen Weaver, the instrumental music teacher at the high school and director of all the school's bands.

Others have also participated in an Honor Band and competed in the Ohio Music Education Association's Solo and Ensemble Contest.
