Streetsboro — Nearly 300 job seekers flocked to Streetsboro High School March 20 for the Streetsboro Area Chamber of Commerce’s Employment Expo.

The event featured 37 businesses, agencies and organizations offering job opportunities, volunteerism and information about what they do.

“There seems to be a pretty good mix of people,” said Tobie Shriver, general manager of Streetsboro’s Staples store. Job seekers ran the gamut from older, more experienced prospects to young people seeking work, he said.

Lew Shiley, managing partner with Infinity Resources Inc., a staffing company, said he was impressed with the expo.

“It’s great — better than I thought it would be,” he said, adding he’s attended other job fairs and employment events.

Willie Lawrence, a job seeker from Streetsboro said he thinks he “found a couple good job leads.”

Other job seekers echoed his sentiments.

Streetsboro Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Heidi Inzerillo said she was pleased with the turnout.

“Without a doubt, there will be a 2014 Streetsboro Area Chamber Employment Expo,” she said.
