The School Board decided to promote from within when faced with the question of who would succeed Dr. Tim Calfee as superintendent.
And it acted quickly.
The Board of Education unanimously voted to approve a three-year contract for Daulbaugh at its annual strategic plan meeting Feb. 2. The contract took effect on Aug. 1 and runs through July 31, 2016.
He earns $105,000 for the 2013-14 school year, according to Treasurer Cathy Rouse.
Daulbaugh served as director of curriculum for Streetsboro City Schools last year and had served as Campus Elementary School principal before that.
Daulbaugh replaced Dr. Tim Calfee, former Ravenna City Schools superintendent, who was serving under a one-year contract after Bob Hunt left the Streetsboro post after one year.
"[Daulbaugh] has a varied and deep educational background," said Denise Baba, who was School Board president last year. "When you look for these types of positions, it would be good to have someone with superintendent experience. This was not his first go around as a curriculum director. He served in that position at another school district. He knows education from the ground up."
