Portage APL hosts ‘My Furry Valentine’ adoption event

Published:

In celebration of the Valentine’s holiday and in hopes of increasing adoptions, the Portage Animal Protective League is hosting “My Furry Valentine.”

From Feb. 14 to 15, adopters will receive 14 percent off of cat and dog adoption fees. Regular fees for dogs are $150 and cats are $50.

Also, each animal adopted will go home with a brand new toy, treats, a blanket and a collar (for dogs) while supplies last.

“Valentine’s Day celebrates love. These discarded, abused and homeless animals want love so badly and deserve it. We’ll have refreshments, snacks and, of course, wonderful animals that need loving homes,” said Chalan Lowry, executive director of the Portage APL.

All dogs and cats adopted are up to date on vaccines, spayed or neutered, checked for appropriate disease and free of fleas and worms. Many are also microchipped and have an additional medical history.

The Portage APL is a private, nonprofit organization and relies on the generosity and kindness of individuals and businesses to make the community a safer place for thousands of animals. The agency continue rescues animals every day, and the need is constant.
