Cuyahoga Valley National Park's Towpath Trail closes, due to predicted flooding

Published:

Due to anticipated flooding, the National Park Service closed the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail in Cuyahoga Valley National Park until further notice on Feb. 20.

Multiple sections of the trail are anticipated to be affected by flooding. The trail closure includes associated parking lots from the Lock 39 Trailhead in Independence to the Botzum Trailhead in Akron. National Park Service staff will make assessments of trail conditions for resource and visitor safety before reopening the trail.

Check www.nps.gov/cuva in advance of traveling to the park for updates.

Park officials ask visitors to respect all closed park areas for the safety of visitors, park staff and natural resources.
