Due to a water line problem, the right westbound lane of Route 14 between Classic and Singletary drives was closed for just over 12 hours Feb. 26 starting around after midnight.

Streetsboro Police Lt. Troy Beaver said the lane was shut down shortly after midnight on Feb. 26 and reopened around 1:30 p.m. Feb. 26.

"It was probably backed up a little more than usual this morning," he said Feb. 26.

Water Superintendent John Kuklisin said water was turned off for several businesses on either side of Route 14 from about 4-9 a.m. Feb. 26 while repairs to the water line were completed.

"We had to shut people off from Classic Drive to Singletary Drive out to the turnpike," he said.

Shortly before midnight Feb. 25, the tap-in saddle valve, which would be used to connect the line from the closed Palms Motel to the main line, fell apart, said Kuklisin.

"The tapping saddle came apart. That goes around the main, so you can hook your service to it," he explained. "We just removed the saddle, and put a repair band on it."

Beaver said a section of Route 14 sustained damage from shifting, due to water pressure from the damaged water line.
