Hudson -- Before a superstar comedian, author and talk show host performs at the Cleveland Quicken Loans Arena, she'll stop in Hudson for a book signing.
Chelsea Handler will sign her book, "Uganda Be Kidding Me" at 2 p.m. March 6 at the Blue Rock Cafe, 5827 Darrow Road.
Handler hosts the late-night talk show Chelsea Lately, on E! She is the author of the books, "My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands," "Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea," "Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang," "Lies that Chelsea Handler told me" and the upcoming "Uganda Be Kidding Me," in which Chandler relates the trials and tribulations of traveling to Africa for a safari.
The Learned Owl Book Shop, an independent bookstore at 204 N. Main St., is sponsoring the book signing.
"She's very entertaining," owner Kate Schlademan said. "Her stories are laugh-out-loud funny. If you like humor, it's a perfect venue to meet someone who's pretty well known."
The Blue Rock Caf will open at 11:30 a.m. and serve lunch and drinks before Handler's appearance at 2 p.m.
Reservations at the Blue Rock can be made for parties of six or more by calling the Blue Rock Cafe at 330-650-2222. However, there are plenty of bar seats and standing room for the book signing.
There are no tickets for this event, but guests can reserve a copy of Handler's book from The Learned Owl Book Shop in advance by calling 330-653-2252 or purchase it beginning March 4 for $27 plus tax. Books also can be purchased at the door of the Blue Rock Cafe March 6, Schlademan said.
The signing line will be organized by book reservation number and guarantees entrance and a place in line. Handler's publishing company approached Schlademan about the visit, she said.
"We work with them regularly for other author events," Schlademan said.
Although Schlademan said she has plenty of books ordered, Handler will need to leave Hudson by 4 p.m. to get to Cleveland in time for her performance. Two other titles, "Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang" and "Lies that Chelsea Handler told me" also will be available for purchase at the Learned Owl Book Shop, Schlademan said.
