Vote to hire FMD Architects for Streetsboro school facilities project expected

Streetsboro — The Streetsboro Board of Education will likely vote to hire FMD Architects to work on its school facilities projects, according to Superintendent Michael Daulbaugh.

In addition to FMD, two other architectural firms made the School Board's short list: Then Design Architects and VSWC Architects.

“After interviewing the three architectural firms, in conjunction with the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission, we selected FMD Architects for both projects [high school-stadium and at Route 303 campus],” he said March 20. “They will be formally approved at the April School Board meeting.”

That meeting will take place April 10 at 6:45 p.m. at Henry Defer Intermediate School.

A new high school and stadium will likely be built on Route 14. At the Route 303 school campus, the existing high school will be heavily renovated to accommodate grades six through eight, and an addition will be built at Campus Elementary School, following the approval of a bond issue in November. The current middle school and Wait Primary School will eventually be closed. Henry Defer Intermediate School would not be renovated, but would only serve fourth- and fifth-graders, according to the district’s plan.
