The Happy Moose coming soon

The vacant, former Eat 'N Park on Route 14 will soon become the home of The Happy Moose Bar and Grille, Mayor Glenn Broska announced March 19.

"I am excited to fill this vacancy with such a community-minded restaurant," stated Mayor Broska.

The Happy Moose Bar and Grille is a family-owned and operated restaurant whose first location is in Mentor.

The Happy Moose Owner Chris Tsilianidis said he decided to locate its second eatery and bar in Streetsboro, due to the great location and the timing, according to a March 19 news release from the city of Streetsboro.

"We believe it to be a good time to open our second store in a growing area," he said. "There's a lot going on in Streetsboro. Everyone was really, really positive in terms of it being a great location for us."

Tsilianidis, together with his brother, Jim, and father, Pat, said they plan to become very involved with the community and to build relationships with the local schools and sports teams, according to the news release.

With the exception of sign changes, the exterior of the building will remain the same, but the interior will undergo extensive renovation, including raising the ceiling, according to the news release. The restaurant also will feature multiple large screen TVs located throughout the restaurant.

"These improvements will better reflect our theme and style," said Tsilianidis. "We have an architect now working on sketches for us. We have to figure out exactly how we're going to lay it out. It is a little bit of an awkward space."

He said he's planning a more open floor plan than what Eat 'N Park used and plans to build a patio dining area in the future.

The restaurant will be a sports bar and grille with an emphasis on the Streetsboro Rockets, he said.

Their menu will include fresh-made burgers, soups and salads, and 27 different flavored chicken wings.

Tsilianidis said the restaurant claimed the runner-up prize in The Cleveland Plain-Dealer's "Lord of the Wings" competition last year with its "smoke blend," a dry rub.

"It was great for us because we had just opened up," he said.

While its wings may have helped put it on the culinary map in Northeast Ohio, Tsilianidis said the restaurant's most popular items are its burgers.

"We make them here every day," he said. "We have a fresh blend we get every day and hand patty them."

The Happy Moose is slated to open in July 2014, said Tsilianidis.
