Big T's offers fresh foodFebruary 13, 2008
The "T" may stand for co-owner Tim Berecek's first name or it may be for "taste," it doesn't matter to Berecek. He said he just wants residents to give Big T's Diner try. The new breakfast and lunch restaurant, which Berecek described as a "mom and pop" business is located in the Route 14 building which housed George's Donuts until late 2007 when it moved to Twinsburg. Berecek and co-owner Faye Ambler opened the restaurant in January after a complete remodel, which included building a curvaceous counter and bringing in a variety of tables from different periods. Berecek said the restaurant's specialty is, and will remain throughout the year, fresh, locally raised meat and produce. "Our stuff is literally within a 15- to 20-mile radius," he said in a Feb. 7 interview. The growth hormones, steroids and other additives in most food take away from taste, he said." You have to watch what you put in your body these days," he said. During the summer months, he said he hopes expand the menu to include seasonal produce. Big T's Diner is open from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Berecek said he plans to make the restaurant a 24-hour operation on weekends. Comments
