World War II veteran John F. Kraus Jr., 85, of Streetsboro died Feb. 10, 2008 at Aurora Manor in Aurora. Born March 16, 1922 in Cleveland to the late John F. and Mary (Blake) Kraus, Mr. Kraus was a U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran of World War II. Formerly of Solon, he has lived in Streetsboro since 2000 and retired from Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co. as a cable splicer. Mr. Kraus is survived by his daughters Susan (Gary) Demagall and Melissa Kraus, both of Streetsboro; grandchildren Jennifer Demagall, Michael (Darlene) Demagall, Craig (Meegan) Demagall and Carrie (Jeff) Sygula; five great-grandchldren; sister June Pfleger of Garrettsville; and brother Wallace Kraus of North Olmsted. Mr. Kraus was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes M., in 2002, and brother, Russell. Funeral services took place Feb. 13 at Shorts Funeral Home's Streetsboro Chapel with the Rev. Carl Holm officiating. Interment followed at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg. Memorial donations may be made to the Portage County Animal Protective League, PO Box 927, Ravenna 44266. Comments
