Streetsboro -- Four new traffic signs were stolen from the intersection of Seasons and Ferguson roads on March 15 early in the morning and were found later in the week on Lakeside Drive.

According to the report, the new signs, including two stop signs and two signs warning motorists about the new stop signs, were posted at the intersection earlier in the week.

Mayor Tom Wagner said the city spent $550 to replace them.

Police said after contacting local media about the missing signs, a resident reported March 19 seeing the signs on the side of Lakeside Road. The signs were recovered and will be used as backups in case other stop signs are moved or stolen, according to the report.

There are no suspects. Police ask motorists who see people removing traffic signs to call 911.

Animal at large

March 13. Dog runs loose: A Briar Drive resident reported a large dog was loose in the neighborhood, getting into trash cans and defecating in people's yards.

According to the report, the resident, who claims to know the dog's owner, said the dog runs loose every day.

Police said they spoke with the owner, who said he will put the dog on a chain leash during the day.

The officer told the owner he would be charged with animal at large violations if the dog is seen loose again.

Disorderly conduct

March 16. Loiterer charged: An officer responded to a report of a suspicious person outside a Route 14 hotel during the evening, but the man ran, escaping police when they arrived.

Later, other officers received a second report of a man loitering outside the hotel early in the morning. The man tried to run through the lobby to elude the officers, according to the report. But police said the officers were able to detain the man in the hotel lobby.

Yelling at police officers and hotel employees and becoming belligerent, the man, who showed signs of intoxication, said he was trying to check on his sister.

After being arrested, the man, who was under 21, failed a breath test at the police station and gave officers a false name, according to the report. The man was charged with disorderly conduct, prohibitions, and obstructing official business. He was taken to Portage County Jail.

Driving under a suspension

March 16. Motorist charged; two warrants served: An officer pulled over a vehicle in the evening for speeding on Frost Road and learned the driver had a suspended license.

According to the report, two passengers in the vehicle had active warrants through the Portage County Sheriff's Office and were arrested at the scene.

Police said the driver was released at the scene to a friend, and the passengers were taken to the Portage County Justice Center.
