Streetsboro Church
of God

Streetsboro Church of God will host a "Trash and Treasure Sale and Carwash" May 31 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Crafters and those who are hoping to sell items around the house can rent a table at the sale for $10. To reserve a table, call either 330-281-9074 or 330-626-2735 by May 25. From May 26 to May 31, the price of a table is $15.

Proceeds from the event will help send kids to youth camp.

Streetsboro Church of Christ

* The Streetsboro Church of Christ is hosting a Gospel Meeting from May 11 through May 15. The speaker will be Dan Kessinger from the Dewey Avenue Church of Christ in St. Marys, W.Va. May 11 services include Bible class at 10 a.m. and worship at 10:45 a.m. and 5 p.m. The gospel meeting continues with services at 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The topic is "Fire and Blood: Lessons from the Old Testament." The public is welcome at all events.

* The Streetsboro Church of Christ participated in a Bible Bowl competition on the Old Testament books of Ruth and Esther and the New Testament books of I and II Timothy on April 5. The competition was hosted by the Alkire Road Church of Christ in Grove City near Columbus. Two fourth- through seventh-grade teams, one eighth- through twelfth-grade team, and three adult teams competed. The fourth- through seventh-graders finished fourth and eighth out of 14 teams while the teens finished in second out of eight teams. One adult team placed first out of 15 teams with one member tallying a perfect score. Ribbons were given to all teams finishing in the top-three, and plaques were awarded to all first place teams.

The Chapel
at Tinkers Creek

* On May 11, the chapel's community trails will officially reopen on the church property at 9825 Page Road in Streetsboro. The morning before members will be out on the site, clearing off and maintaining the 1.5-mile walking loop. The public is invited to work or walk with members.

* The annual Tinkers Creek church camping trip will be at West Branch State Park this year on July 11-13.

* Youth Pastor Kasey Parmelee will lead a group of teens and leaders to rural West Virginia in June for an Appalachian work project in the mountains.

* Worship Leader Andy Dolson will travel to Nashville in June to cut a new original CD. Dolson leads music every week in our 10:30 a.m. worship service at Streetsboro Middle School. For more information visit www.tinkerscreek.com.

St. Joan of Arc

* The Altar and Rosary Society is hosting a rummage sale May 21 and 22. The sale will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 21 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 22.

* Masses are offered the following times: Each Monday through Friday mornings at 8:30 a.m. with communion offered on Tuesdays; Saturday evenings at 5 and Sunday at 8:30 and 11:30 a.m.

St. Thomas Evangelical Lutheran Church

* The church's property committee will meet May 3 and June 7 at 9 a.m.

* The Women's Group will meet for a mother-daughter tea May 4 from 1-3 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring an appetizer to share with the group.

* The expansion and vision committee will meet May 8 at 7 p.m.

* A congregational meeting has been set for May 18 at 10 a.m. The meeting is to discuss options for a front sign. Designs will be displayed on the bulletin board before the meeting.

* Have questions you'd like to speak to someone about? A "Mutual Ministry" committee is forming, which may be able to help fill that need. * Alcoholics Anonymous meets each Mondays at 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. and Thursdays at 10 a.m.

* Adult catechism classes meet ever Thursday at 7 p.m.This class is recommended for all new members who have joined the church during the last year.

* The Youth Group meets at 6 to 8 p.m. each Thursday.

* A church rummage sale will take place June 5, 6 and 7. Collections will begin May 11. For more information, call Marla Manijak at 330-626-5120.

* Vacation Bible school will take place July 14-18 from 6 to 9 p.m. The theme this year is "Son Harvest County Fair."

Faith Baptist Church
of Streetsboro

Sunday school meets at 9:30 a.m. for children and teens. Meeting at this time also are five adult Bible fellowship groups.

Sunday at 10:45 a.m. -- This worship service features a blend of classic and modern hymns, as well as current worship songs accompanied by a full band and singers.

Streetsboro United Methodist Church

* Streetsboro United Methodist Church recently hosted its first monthly community dinner.

The dinners will take place each fourth Tuesday of the month; and they are free and open to the public. The next free community dinner will take place May 27 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

The dinners are served in the church's handicap-accessible fellowship hall. The church and hall are located at 8940 Route 43. The handicap entrance is behind the church on the lower level.

This is a community outreach program sponsored by the church's missions committee.

* Those interested in providing comfort to someone in the final stages of life may consider providing respite relief for caretakers of those in hospice care. Visits could include running errands, light housekeeping, snack preparation, and offering companionship.

Spring training for volunteers is beginning soon. For more information, call Bernadette Thomas, hospice volunteer coordinator, at 330-297-8899.

Hope Community Church in Hudson

Hope Student Ministries is hosting a film festival at its Hope Café May 2 from 8 to 11 p.m. There will be humorous homemade movies shown and snacks and refreshments served. This event is open to middle and high school students.

Lakeview Chapel

The message for May 4 is "We Don't Want Your Money." The service starts at 10:45 a.m. Nursery and kids church will be available for infants to fifth-graders. Classes for age 3 to adults begin at 9:30.

Hope Community Chapel

Hope Community Church, 3033 Middleton Road, is involved in "Celebrate Recovery," a Christ-centered group program to help people hurting. The program is designed to help free participants from addictive, compulsive, and dysfunctional behaviors. This program will meet each Friday at 7 p.m.

Rejoice Lutheran Church

On May 4 at noon, Rejoice Lutheran Church will host a groundbreaking ceremony in anticipation of building its new church in Hudson.

The ceremony, which is open to the public, will take place at 7855 Stow Road, just north of Middleton Road in Hudson.

The congregation is currently worshipping at Ellsworth Hill Elementary School at the corner of Middleton and Stow Roads.

Aurora Mennonite

The church will have its third of four community dinners May 9, with an all-you-can-eat salad bar, spaghetti, meatballs, rolls, homemade pie and beverages.

The cost is $8.50 for adults and $4.50 for children ages 4 to 11. Money raised will go toward the annual auction June 28. The church is at Route 43 and East Mennonite Road. For details, call 330-562-8011.

Hope Community

Hope Preschool will offer three-day classes for 3- to 5-year-olds for 2008-09. Classes are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday mornings. For details, call 330-655-5170 or 330-656-0992. The school meet at the church on Middleton Road in Hudson.

Hope Lutheran

The church's annual vacation Bible school is planned July 20 to 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. Registration forms are available in the office. Cost is $10 per child for the week.

The next women's Bible study will be May 9 at 5:30 p.m. at Peggy Robinson's Streetsboro home. Hot dogs will be served. For details, call 330-422-1946.

The couples and links Bible study will be May 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Godales' on East Pioneer Trail. The group is watching and discussing the eight-part video series by Dr. Paul L. Maier titled "Christianity: The First Three Centuries."
