VFW adopts unit

Streetsboro Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9716 recently adopted the Ohio Army National Guard 135th Military Police Company based in Chagrin Falls.

The Adopt-A-Unit program is intended to forge a connection between VFW members and their local military community. By adopting a unit, the post can establish and sustain a long-term friendships with those serving stateside and overseas.

In addition, the VFW offers support through the Military Assistance Program by providing grants to VFW posts which participate in military unit functions, such as sponsoring farewell and welcome home activities and family readiness events.

The VFW also provides free phone cards to military members and hospitalized veterans through the Operation Uplink Program and $2,500 grants to eligible service members and their families who are experiencing financial hardships associated with deployments or military service through the Unmet Needs Program.
