by Miles Jung-Kilbreath Reporter Streetsboro -- The city is working to improve the Pierce-Streetsboro Library, starting with installing a new air conditioning and heating for $11,100. "This is coming at a good time," Streetsboro Library Director Michelle Dillon said. "It's already starting to get kind of warm in [the library]." Council unanimously at an April 28 Council meeting approved the contract with Cains Heating and Air Conditioning in Garrettsville to be completed by at least the end of June. Council started discussing repairs in January when Ward 1 Council member Bridget Pavlick said she was concerned about the lighting at night outside the library. She said that there are no lights between the library and the parking lot, which she considered a safety issue. "It can be scary to walk through the parking lot when it's dark," Pavlick said. Wagner said he has been working with Miller on other improvements to the library, including: Improving the outside lighting with additional fixtures, improving window insulation, roof repairs to fix developing holes, and parking lot patching. "We are planning to do much more than improve the lighting," Wagner said. Outside of the heating and air conditioning, Wagner said the city is still working seeking estimates on the pricing of the projects and creating time table for their completion. "We'll look at the cost and then see when and what we can get done," he said. "We have not been putting the resources into the building for a few years and it's time to start again." Dillon said that she is willing to have the city "fix whatever they are willing to." "I'm just excited that they started talking about the library again," she said. E-mail:
