Pit bull owner charged after dog attacks neighbor's Saint Bernard

Streetsboro -- A North Delmonte Boulevard resident was charged April 23 with violating city's dangerous animal ordinance after her 2-year-old pit bull attacked a neighbor's 4-year-old Saint Bernard.

According to the report, the Saint Bernard owner was in his backyard with his Saint Bernard while the resident was in an adjacent yard with her pit bull on a leash. The neighbor told police that the pit bull entered the adjacent yard, pulling its owner along with it. Once in the neighboring yard, it attacked the Saint Bernard. The neighbor told police the veterinarian's bill for the injuries on the Bernard was cost $97.

Police said the owner of the pit bull was charged with violating the city's dangerous animal ordinance and was warned to keep the dog inside.

Theft

April 23. Four hundred dollars in video games stolen: A North Sagramore resident reported that 12 video games worth $400 were stolen from his home during the day.

According to the report, the resident returned home at 6:30 p.m. and wanted to play some video games, but many games were missing, including five Wii games, five Nintendo DS games and two Xbox 360 games.

Police said there are no suspects at this time.

Protection order

April 25. False report of public indecency leads to protection order violation charge: An officer responded to what turned out to be a false report of a naked man standing in front of his window during the afternoon.

According to the police report, two juveniles falsely made a claim against the man, with whom they had been arguing. A background check of the man revealed he was staying with his wife in violation of a protection order she'd filed against him.

The resident told police that he had "forgotten" about the protection order, which he was charged with violating.

Police said the man was taken to Portage County Jail and later released.

Suspected drug possession

April 26. Man charged with possession of suspected marijuana: An officer responded to a report of four men sitting in a storm sewer near Cherokee and Shawnee trails smoking suspected marijuana in the afternoon.

According to the report, the officer found the men walking away from the storm sewer and one of the men said they were just "reminiscing about old times." Police said one of the men possessed a small bag of suspected marijuana and was charged with possession of suspected marijuana.

The man was released at the scene to his friends, according to the report.
