Artist visits
Hudson portrait artist Shannon Casey will be at Main Street Cupcakes, 238 N. Main St., from noon to 3 p.m. May 16 doing quick sketch charcoal portraits for customers. The charcoal sketches are done on toned paper and take about 30 minutes to complete. The drawings are available on a first-come, first-served basis for $35. Sittings are suitable for children of all ages, as well as adults. Casey is a member of the Portrait Society of America, Hudson Society of Artists, Akron Society of Artists and Peninsula Art Academy where she has a studio. Also on display will be a collection of oil "portraits" of cupcakes by Casey with thick impasto paint to represent the frosting. For more information, e-mail Casey at CaseyStudio@aol.com. Special to Record Publishing Co. Hudson artist Shannon Casey uses charcoal and toned paper to create quick portrait sketches like this one of seventh-grader Eric Vlahos. Models are encouraged to talk during the process as it creates a more lifelike portrait. Comments
