Streetsboro United Methodist Church member

Yvonne Varner, 73, of Streetsboro, died May 18, 2009 at her residence.

Born April 18, 1936 in Dry Branch, W.Va. to the late John and Lucille (Craig) Higgs, Mrs. Varner has lived in Streetsboro the past 49 years and retired from Revco in Twinsburg where she worked in tech support.

She attended the Streetsboro United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Varner was an avid bird watcher, loved to collect shoes, and, in her younger days, enjoyed boating and motorcycle riding.

She is survived by her sons John (Lisa) Varner Jr. of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Thomas (Debra) Varner of Streetsboro; daughters Pamela (Joe) Verosik of Redlands, Calif., Sharon (Nelson) Heber of Ravenna, and Sheila (Richard) Zuchinski of Streetsboro; six grandchildren; brother Richard Higgs of Diamond; sister Charlene Medina of Streetsboro; and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Varner was preceded in death by her husband John Raymond Varner; brothers Winford Higgs and Bob Higgs; and sisters Doris Malloy and Jane McKeiver.

Funeral services took place May 21 at Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home's Streetsboro Chapel. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Streetsboro.
