Girls soccer team rolls

A Streetsboro fifth- and sixth-grade girls soccer travel team recently earned a lopsided 16-0 victory over a team from Kent.

The team has been playing together for 10 months a year for the last two years.

“The girls are very dedicated to the sport and most of them are very excited to play for Streetsboro’s middle school soccer team in the fall,” Streetsboro head coach Kim Klein.

“This is the best group of girls I have ever worked with the 20 years of coaching I have done,” she added. “I will miss these girls in the fall. They have become a part of my extended family. I wish them the best in middle school and I know they will do great on the middle school soccer team.”

Team members included Alison Targosky, Devon Klein, Hannah Saucier, Amber Glenn, Beth Merriefield, Taylor Donovan, Danica Davis, Allison Jenkins, Melissa Wilkinson, Alexa Tirearany, Hannah Schuller and Lauren Swim. The team will be called the Streetsboro United Soccer Club next year.

 

Play soccer

HandsOnSoccer is scheduled to have several camps during the summer. 

The director is former professional goalkeeper Otto Orf. Half-day and full-day options are available for boys and girls, ages 4-18. The half-day camp is $125 and the full-day camp is $185. Visit www.HandsOnSoccer.com for details and registration forms.

Volleyball offered

Mount Union College in Alliance is offering a volleyball day camp for girls July 20 through 23 at Alliance High School.

A session for girls entering grades 7-12 is scheduled to take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., while a session for girls entering grades 4-6 is set to run from 2-6 p.m.

Monsman runs

Streetsboro residents Megan Monsman competed at the Ohio City Run & Crawl 5K race June 20 in Cleveland.

Megan, 29, placed 54th in the female 25-to-29 age group and 291st overall with a time of 29 minutes, 19.57 seconds.
