Kent State University administrator Miriam "Mickey" Cavanaugh Mickey, 97, formerly of Streetsboro, died Nov. 19 2009. Born Nov. 6, 1912 in Cleveland to the late Henry and Minnie (Tesnow) Wuebker, Mrs. Cavanaugh spent the early part of her career working for the East Ohio Gas Co. in Cleveland. In later years, she served as assistant to the comptroller of Kent State University. She retired from this position in 1972 after more than 20 years of service. Mrs. Cavanaugh was preceded in death by her first husband Linwood Freeman in 1948; her second husband Patrick D. Cavanaugh in 2002; and her brother Raymond Wuebker in 1997. Survivors include her sister-in-law Mary Wuebker of Berkshire, N.Y.; nieces Joy Webker of Hudson and Gay Coon of Berkshire, N.Y.; nephews Raymond Webker of Andover and Donald Webker of Lady Lake, Fla.; and step-children Patrick D. Cavanaugh Jr. (Lois) of Mantua, Kathleen Gallagher (John dec.) of Lenox, Mass., Mary Ellen Sanders (Thomas) of Sun Lakes, Ariz. and Maureen Grainger (Reed) of Victor, Colo. Mrs. Cavanaugh was the grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother of many. A funeral service took place Nov. 23 at the Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Homes Streetsboro Chapel with the Rev. Fr. Ray Horley officiating. Interment followed at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 12200 Fairhill Road, Cleveland 44120. Comments
