Former Streetsboro fire captain Reginald Wayne Werner, 78, of Streetsboro, died Nov. 19, 2009 surrounded by family at Robinson Memorial Hospital. Born in Fairmont City, Pa. on March 24, 1931, Mr. Werner joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17, and was a Korean War Veteran. After his dedicated military service, he met his soulmate Mary Beigle Werner who he married in 1954. The Werners moved to Ohio in 1954, and Mr. Werner volunteered over 23 years of service as captain of the Streetsboro Fire Department. Dedicated to serving his family and community, he also was a founding member of Streetsboro's St. Thomas Lutheran Church and was a Streetsboro and Tionesta, Pa. Lions Club member. The Werners moved to Ohio in 1954, and Mr. Werner volunteered over 23 years of service as captain of the Streetsboro Fire Department. Dedicated to serving his family and community, he also was a founding member of Streetsboro's St. Thomas Lutheran Church and was a Streetsboro and Tionesta, Pa. Lions Club member. He enjoyed nothing more than hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Werner is survived by his wife Mary; sisters Regina Bish of Transfer, Pa. and Carla Williams of Atlanta, Ga.; his four children Debbie (Rory) Wolff of Streetsboro, Jeff (Shirley) Werner of Chesapeake, Va., Chip (Roger) Black of Ravenna, Greg (Beatriz) Werner of Woodbridge, Va.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services took place Nov. 22 at Streetsboro Lutheran Church. His ashes will be spread over Camp Cherry Pie on Great Pappy's Mountain in Tionesta Pa. Comments
