License plate registration stickers covered with paper

Streetsboro -- After pulling over a vehicle at the Frost Road exit on Interstate 480 for expired license plates around 6 a.m. Nov. 23, police allegedly found the vehicle's registration and county license plate stickers were covered with a blue piece of paper, according to police reports. The driver, a Kent man, 53, told police the vehicle's registration hadn't been renewed because it needed a new exhaust system and didn't pass the E-Check.

The vehicle was towed.

Theft

Nov. 24. Vehicle stolen from hotel: A man at a hotel on Route 14 reported someone allegedly stole a vehicle belonging to a South Carolina woman from the parking lot around 4 p.m., according to police. The man reported another vehicle followed the person who stole the vehicle from the hotel's parking lot, police said. The hotel will check its surveillance videos, according to police reports.

Nov. 25. Mapping gadget stolen: A David Drive resident reported around 7:30 p.m. someone stole her electronic mapping device, valued at $129, from her unlocked vehicle overnight.

Possession of drugs

Nov. 21. Drugs and paraphernalia found in vehicle: A Streetsboro man, 25, was charged with possession of drugs and paraphernalia and for expired license plates during a traffic stop around 10 p.m. on Route 43, according to police reports. Police used K9 dogs and allegedly found the drug paraphernalia, marijuana and two types of pills in the car. The driver was arrested and taken to the Portage County Jail.

Nov. 22: Driver and passenger arrested: A Newton Falls man, 48, was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and driving in marked lanes after police pulled over his vehicle after it was allegedly weaving and driving over painted lines near Route 14 and the Lake Rockwell bridge, according to police.

The passenger, a 44-year-old Newton Falls female, was charged with drug possession after police allegedly found a white powder substance. Both were arrested and taken to the Streetsboro Police Department. The driver was released, and the passenger was transported to the Portage County Jail.

Nov. 25. Drugs, paraphernalia found in vehicle in yard: A Mantua man, 19, was charged with possession of drugs and paraphernalia during an incident at Greenhaven Street around 1:20 a.m., according to police.

A police officer saw the man sitting in a vehicle in the yard. When the man left the vehicle running with the door open, the officer saw drugs and a digital scale on the driver's front seat, according to police.

Nov. 26. Driver arrested: During a traffic stop on Route 303 around 3:45 a.m., a 20-year-old Concord man was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, prohibitions and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to police. The driver was taken to the Streetsboro Police Department and later released.

Nov. 29. Driver and passenger arrested: A Chagrin Falls man, 22, was charged with drug possession during a traffic stop on Route 43 around 3:15 a.m., according to police reports. The passenger in the vehicle, a 21-year-old from Shaker Heights, was found to have a warrant through the Portage County Sheriff's Department and was arrested and transported to the Portage County Sheriff's Department.

Criminal mischief

Nov. 24. Vending machine damaged: A manager of a retail store on Route 14 reported the soda machines outside the store had been broken into sometime between 10:30 p.m. Nov. 23 and 5 a.m. Nov. 24, according to police reports.

Several pry marks and damage to the dollar bill compartment were visible on the machine, but the store manager didn't know if anything had been stolen, police said.
