Korean War veteran

Herman J. "Red" Schrader, 78, of Rootstown, died Dec. 1, 2009.

Born Jan. 24, 1931 in Ravenna to the late Harry and Mary (Schuck) Schrader, Mr. Schrader attended Immaculate Conception School and Ravenna Township School and has lived in Rootstown since 1967.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, where he served as a medic and a long distance truck driver for Tannert Trucking in Ravenna.

Survivors include his stepchildren Karen (Gary) English-Huhn of Rootstown, Sandra (Jess) English-Bane of Streetsboro and Dave (Chris) English of Randolph; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sister Rosemary (Frank) Bosko of Ravenna; and brother Robert (Barb) Schrader of Mogadore.

Mr. Schrader was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mildred Schrader, sister Helen and brothers Paul and Donald Schrader.

Funeral services took place Dec. 5 at the Shorts-Spicer- Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel with the Rev. Orion Aubihl officiating. Interment followed at Homeland Cemetery in Rootstown.
