Streetsboro -- By any measure, Streetsboro has had a busy 2009.

From the success of the Streetsboro High School boys basketball team to the resignation of the city's mayor, the year has been chock full of big news.

During the next few issues, The Gateway News will review the biggest stories of 2009, and offer some updates to some stories along the way.

City Hall was marked by a leadership change and a change in its financial status. The year started with budget layoffs and an income tax issue on the May ballot, which voters approved.

Last winter also saw the beginning of the city's master planning process, which ended last week with the adoption of a 200-page plus plan.

Also in May, former Mayor Tom Wagner resigned amidst a variety of allegations, which he denied. At that time, current Mayor Art Scott took over as acting mayor.

Last winter was a time of excitement at the high school, with the basketball team winning the district title and The Boardwines, a family band including two high school students and a teacher, competing on The Early Show.

Summer brought with it the opening of Robinson Health Center at Streetsboro, a $21 million facility in the center of town.

The fall was dominated by the campaigns for mayor, City Council, the School Board, and a 9.5-mill school levy.

Scott was elected to finish Wagner's term, which ends in November 2011, and the school levy was rejected by voters, necessitating wide-ranging school budget reductions.

Below are links to reviews of some of the year's biggest stories:
