GM Lordstown plant retiree

Junior Phillips, 77, of Ravenna, died Dec. 9, 2009 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.

Born Aug. 1, 1932 in Stainville, Tenn. to the late Pharoah and Ettie (Daugherty) Phillips, Mr. Phillips has lived in Ravenna the past five years and was formerly of Warren and Streetsboro.

He retired from General Motors in Lordstown and he enjoyed playing with his guitar and his dogs.

Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife of 56 years, June (Goddard) Phillips; sons Ronald Phillips of Ravenna and Buddy Phillips of Streetsboro; daughters Marilyn (Michael) Gilak of Ravenna and Linda (Larry) Sedar of Streetsboro; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sisters Ruby of Ravenna and Margaret of Tennessee.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services took place Dec. 11 at the Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home's Streetsboro Chapel with the Elder Michael Vanaman officiating. Interment followed in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.
